Collaborating on Literature (English-Tenth Grade)

Hello! My name is Jennifer Conroy, and I am an English teacher in upstate New York (USA). I teach tenth grade, and am looking for a fellow English teacher who would be interested in collaborating on a book together. I am excited about the opportunity to have my students work with peers from around the world, and enjoy integrating technology into my lessons. I plan to teach John Knowles, A Separate Peace in March, followed by Macbeth in April or May, and perhaps the The Giver, by Lois Lowry in June. I am of course open to other books or ideas. If collaborating on a particular piece of literature isn't feasible, I would be open to the idea of crafting a collaborative writing unit. Please send me a message if you are interested!

Dates:March 2012-June 2012

We will try case 1 during the week of April 30, May 1, May 2 We need schools for both prosecution and defense

We are trying to have volunteer judges from several different colleges. We would like to have the briefs sent to the judges before we start the arguments.

Format Rules

Two attorneys per team
Each attorney will have 15 minutes to present their arguments
30 Minutes per side
Prosecution may reserve 2 minutes of their time for rebuttal
The judge(s) may ask question throughout your arguments.
There are no objections- lawyers present evidence of their arguments and are cross examined by the judges.

IB Spanish Exchange

To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Rocio Horzepa and I am a Spanish IB teacher at Linden High School in Linden, New Jersey, USA, a secondary school located about a half an hour away from New York City. The purpose of my e-mail is to make contact with a sister IB school in Spain to initiate an international exchange program.
In our school, exchange programs are highly regarded and are currently in existence with Italy, Germany, China, and France. This program promotes friendship at a global scale in the true spirit of the International Baccalaureate program. Therefore we would be interesting in creating a Spanish exchange for the school year 2012-2013 with Madrid, Barcelona, Santander, Cadiz, or Malaga.
I would greatly appreciate a response to my proposition as soon as possible, whether or not you would be interested in participating in this wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Rocio Horzepa
