Description: | Share and interpret the book three chapters at a time. This collaboration would be with just one other school. |
Dates: | February 8 to March 22, 2010 |
Sign up method: | Email: emiller@esu9.org |
Grades: | 4 |
Subjects: | Language Arts/English |
Outcomes: | The students will share questions, concerns, geographic knowledge, vocabulary. The procedural style will be similar to the 'interpretation' of literature. I am working with 10 higher reading ability students. |
Preparation Time Frame: | We will spend six weeks minium. |
Methods and Activities: | Preparation: Read Hatchet - three chapters per week. The teachers would develop questions and activities ahead of time. |
Responsibilities: | The responsibilities of the students will be to read the required chapters, look up vocabulary words they don't know and write their definitions, write an interpretive question on their own. I only get to meet with my students once a week for one half hour, so they have to complete the above on their own. |
Agenda: | No videoconferencing. |
Other: | Follow-up: Students may also enjoy creating and sharing a final project response to the book.
