| Objective of Collaboration | We teach English in a rural, Pre-K through 12th grade school in Central Vermont. We teach our entire 10th grade, about 32 students, simultaneously. We have designed a personal writing unit in conjunction with literature units on the Holocaust, with Night and The Diary of Anne Frank, and the Freedom Writers Diary. We are looking for a partnership in the fall of 2011 with a 10th grade English class (or classes) who would read the same or similar literature over the course of eight weeks and who would share personal writing with our students. We would like to have the students respond to weekly personal writing prompts through a blog and provide constructive feedback for each other. We can use videoconferencing to introduce the students, as well as team teach writing lessons. After the literature units are completed, the students would spend two weeks selecting two of their blog posts to expand and polish for inclusion into an anthology of personal writing.
