Grade 3: Unidentified Alien Project Descriptive Writing Project


Description:"Unidentified Alien" is a descriptive writing project in which students will create an alien out of materials(small enough to be mailed because they will be exchanged). Students will then write a descriptive paragraph about their alien which will be read to their partner classroom on the day of the event. Student will not only get the chance of being creative, but will also put their writing and communication skills to work.

We are currently only accepting one classroom for this project, but will be posting more in the future.

Description:I work with over 30 Pre-K classrooms in Newport News, Virginia and I have many who are looking for partners to collaborate with on a video conference. For the remaining school year we will be covering the following themes: Spring/Weather, Recycling, Plants, and Ocean Animas. We would love to work with other Pre-K/ Kindergarten/1st grade clssrooms on the themes listed OR other ideas. We use a polycom set-up using IP address for our connections. If you are interested let me know and I can match a teacher with a request.

Grades 2-12: Live from Nicaragua: VC for Hope


Description:
On Thursday, April 28th and Friday, April 29th, students around the world will gather via Video Conference technology to help raise awareness and funds for the building of a school in the remote indigenous community of Walakitang, BOSAWAS, Nicaragua.

On both days, from 09:00-15:00 (MT), schools from across Alberta, North America, and Nicaragua will connect to each other to develop relationships, share culture and ideas, and examine the impact of Globalization on indigenous communities and the environment.

Each school can register for one or many sessions, created for their age group:

Grades 6-8: EcoConversations: Asian Carp Discussion


Description:Middle and high school students connect to discuss current environmental issues and their impact locally. Students present their research and the local perspectives and then discuss the issues with the partner class.

We need 5 partners to discuss the Asian Carp issue with us. We'd love to connect to students along the Illinois River, or anywhere that you have the Asian Carp issue. If we can't get classes close to that area, we'd be happy to connect to any other class studying this issue.

Objective of Collaboration We are a rural parish in Southwest Lousiana hosting a summer writing camp for advanced students in grades 5,6,and 7. Objective of Collaboration Our Grade 4 Class is looking for another class to share what we have learned about Mexico or Canada.
Each class will conduct a 5-10 minute presentation on Mexico.
Teachers will collaborate via e-mail on topics presented such as currency, geography, interesting facts, etc.
