Texas Critters (Grades 1-6)
From the raccoon they see in their neighborhood to the nine-banded armadillo (the official Small Mammal of Texas); your students will be intrigued while learning fun facts about these and other Texas critters. Students will learn the differences between mammals and reptiles, carnivores and herbivores, habitats and adaptations, all the while looking at interactive visuals. ASI: Animal Skull Investigation! (Grades 1-6)
This interactive presentation allows students the opportunity to investigate skulls of native Texas animals. Unique adaptive traits will be discussed and students will be asked to look for clues to determine the identity and feeding habits of our mystery specimens. WANT MORE? More Than A Drop: Aquifers Uncovered (Grades 2-6)
This interactive presentation opens students eyes to the various facets of water, from raindrops to aquifers. Students will be challenged to think about where water comes from, how it got there, where it ends up, and how it is being used. Students will have the opportunity to take part in a hands-on, comparative demonstration along with the presenter, to help them better understand water usage. BATS: LIVE on the BIG Screen! (Grades 1-5)
This interactive presentation allows students the opportunity to investigate the relationship between the anatomy and the ecology, including the dietary habits, of different species of bats. An experience you will not want to miss. LIVE bats take part in this program! Look at their transparent wings, learn how a free-tailed bat gets its name, and watch them munch down on mealworms!
Let's Talk Turkey! (Grades 1-6)
We will discuss turkey anatomy and habitat as well as the various "calls" or vocalizations that turkeys make to communicate. EVERYWHERE across Texas and across the country! A favorite among wildlife enthusiasts, much is known about their habitat, diet, and behaviors. This program provides an in-depth look at their physical and skeletal features, ways to identify whitetails and other species, plus fun facts! Horns or antlers? Native species? What is their white tail signaling? All these questions plus more will be answered!
