Grades 8-12: What are you describing?

Description:Enhance your exchange project by sharing descriptive writing for a purpose. Students will prepare descriptive writing to identify common objects in the classroom. Stories will be read and partner classes will try to identify the object being described.

Outcomes:Learners will be able to describe an object accurately for others to listen to and identify.
Preparation Time Frame:Prepare paragraphs, read to participants, post on wiki
Methods and Activities:Each class prepares the original descriptive writing reads it to the partner class during the video conference.
Responsibilities:Students will write paragraphs and practice reading them clearly.\\r\\nTeacher picks out 2 or 3 of the best ones to read during video conference.\\r\\nStudents practice reading in small groups for clear intonation and pronunciation.\\r\\nGroup picks who will read paragraphs on camera.\\r\\n
Agenda:Agenda: 50 minutes \\r\\n5 min. Welcome and introductions. Each class shares their location and brief information about their school.\\r\\n20-30 min. Reading paragraphs and guessing answers. \\r\\n5-15 min. Question and answer. Students may enjoy asking each other questions about their respective locations and schools.

Other:Class is a Basic Skills class of adults. Many of the students are ELD students.
