Grades 1 & 3: Monster Match

Description:Before the day of the videoconference, each student draws a colorful monster and then writes one or more paragraphs that give a very detailed description of their monster. This is not shared as both classes will be drawing from the description.

The day of the videoconference select two or three drawings and descriptive writings to present to the class joining you in the videoconference. Your student presenters will read the descriptions as students from BOTH sites try to draw what is verbally
described to them. No questions can be asked until the reader is finished. Once the reader has finished, each site may ask up to five questions to help clarify what was described. Upon completion the student presenter will ask for volunteers to share their monsters that were drawn as he/she reads the description. Volunteers will place their monster under the doc cam for all to see. Finally the presenter will place the original under the doc cam for comparison. Each site will present several descriptions to share. The time frame is 30-45 minutes.

This process can be altered any way you’d like if both teachers involved agree. The idea is there for you to work with.
