Grades 9-12: Cultural Exchange - Oktoberfest


Description:We are seeking partners who can share with us their knowledge of and experience with Oktoberfest. We would love to collaborate with people who live or have lived in German (or even visited there during Oktoberfest) or people of German heritage who celebrate Oktoberfest at there present locality.
Dates:A weekday in October, 2010, any time between 8:00am and 3:00pm CDT Mon, Tue, Thur, or Fri

Subjects:Social Studies/History, World Language
Outcomes:The objective of this collaboration is to learn about cultures and customs around the world and how these have become a part of American culture.
World Language: German
Geography: Germany (location, language, culture, food, etc.)
History: background of Oktoberfest and other German celebrations
Preparation Time Frame:1-2 hours
Methods and Activities:Show and tell
Agenda:Those with stories and artifacts will share them. Others will ask questions about them and about German culture, geography,and history.
