Grades 1-2: Arctic Habitat/Animals to Video Conference with same or different Habitat

Description:Our 1st grade class will be researching different Arctic animals. We are looking for another class to share important facts about animals they have researched. It may be the same habitat, or it could be a different one (Desert, Rainforest, Ocean).

We also have a team of 6 other teachers who are researching animals/habitats as well in the habitats listed above.
Dates:Between March 21st and April 8th
Sign up method:Exploding Collaboration
Grades:1, 2
Subjects:Elementary All Subjects, Language Arts/English, Social Studies/History
Outcomes:We expect our students to gain presentation/leadership skills while learning new information about the world envrionments/habitats.
Preparation Time Frame:40-45 minutes
Methods and Activities:Sharing our research visually. Possibly sharing video projects of the animals we researched and some student artwork.
Responsibilities:The teachers will facilitate the students sharing information on their animal. We will have 2-3 students with the same animal, so they may share in groups. A student or group from our class could share, then a student or group from your class could share.
Agenda:Teachers or students from each class share a short 2-3 minute presentation/summary of their habitat/environment. Then individual students/groups share their animals on a rotation with the other class (30 minutes?). In the last 5-10 minutes classes can pose questions to the other class about what they like least/most about doing research and about their projects.
